THE DONZIGER/SCOTUS CASE: BIG BIZ PAYBACK AT EXPENSE OF OUR CIVIL RIGHTS?

One of the possible overlooked news articles of this week was the fact that the US Supreme Court has declined to hear the Contempt case against Amazon oil spill lawyer, Steven Donziger.

Donziger, who originally made the papers as the first lawyer to deal a decisive blow to a major oil company/polluter Texaco/Chevron for it's role in polluting the Amazon River Basin in Ecuador. Culpability in which earned the oil giant a $9.5 BILLION judgement against.

Danziger's problems began when he came to the US to legalize his client's judgement (per US law) Analysis below:

Where he ran afoul of US District Judge (Clinton Appointee) Lewis A. Kaplan (bio below)

Judge Kaplan then decided to take it on his own to be the avenging justice of Chevron by forcing a contempt case upon Donziger. Going so far as to hire a Private Law Firm to prosecute Donziger when the actual DAs office refused.

Hijinx continued up until this week when the US Supreme Court decided to turn away from American's civil liberties and side with big business.

When one worries about the ramifications, think local not global
