JIMMY GOMEZ: OBJECTS OF RIDICULE AND SCORN

JIMMY GOMEZ OF CA, DON;T ASK WHAT'S IN THAT PIXELATED HAND!
JIMMY GOMEZ OF CA, DON;T ASK WHAT'S IN THAT PIXELATED HAND!

If you had the chance to watch the hearing on what had happened during Signal-gate, you would have had the chance to se one of the more unhinged Democrat attacks on the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

The honor for that inenviable position goes to one of the resident socialists from California, one Jimmy Gomez. While not asking much of substance, Gomez gets foru stars for his statements about Hegseth's sobriety during Signal-gate as well asduring a presentation the Secretary made in Europe. One would think that one would worry about the lawsuit to follow, but, as we will show, Gomez and any other character assassin is perfectly safe making those kind of wild accusations.

It depends where he does it.

So join us for a little background check on the man from California and maybe you will learn a little more about the new socialist attack dog.

Firstly, I think you may she the kitten's claws come out because Jimmy may not be the rep for his district much longer. Possibly growing fat on bigwig donations, he is losing touch with the little people

Here's some of his $$ supporters:

Gomez of California's 34th Congressional District received significant financial support during the 2023–2024 election cycle from various organizations and industries. The top contributor was the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which contributed $167,122. Other notable contributors included Capital Group with $35,000, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) with $15,525, Capital Group Companies with $15,000, and Affordable Housing Management Group with $13,200.

In terms of industry support, the Pro-Israel sector was the largest contributor, providing $383,597. Leadership PACs contributed $181,217, the Real Estate industry $128,050, Securities & Investment $106,584, and Lobbyists $90,050.

The pro Israel money is a head scratcher as the Democratic party has positioned itself as the Jew hating machine to beat all other machines. "From the river to the sea" is pretty much the current mantra of all of the most dedicated of the Congress and Senators that still embrace the "progressive revolution". but then again, he still won't vote for Bernie Sanders, so there is that.

And speaking of voting.

Representative Jimmy Gomez has a voting record that aligns solidly with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, placing him on the far-left side of the ideological spectrum in Congress.

Here’s a breakdown to support that characterization:

🔴 Far Left (Progressive Democrat)

  • Member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus – a group known for advocating Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, workers' rights, and racial justice reforms.

  • High ratings from left-leaning groups:

    • Planned Parenthood: 100%

    • League of Conservation Voters: 100%

    • AFL-CIO (Labor): Strong pro-union votes

  • Low ratings from conservative orgs:

    • Heritage Action: ~0–5%

    • National Rifle Association (NRA): F rating

🧭 On a scale from Far Left to Far Right:

Voting Trends:

  • Supports universal healthcare, student debt relief, immigration reform, and environmental protections.

  • Opposes military overreach, corporate tax breaks, and tough-on-crime legislation that disproportionately impacts marginalized communities.

Representative Jimmy Gomez’s belief system and voting history place him closer to democratic socialism than mainstream centrism, but he is not a self-identified socialist. Instead, he identifies as a progressive Democrat, working within the traditional Democratic Party framework — not as a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Rashida Tlaib.

Here’s a closer look:

🗳️ Voting Record & Policy Alignment

  • Pro-Social Safety Net:

    • Strong support for Medicare for All-style policies or robust public options.

    • Advocates for student loan cancellation, expanded access to public education, and childcare funding.

  • Labor Rights & Unions:

    • Consistently backs pro-union legislation (e.g., the PRO Act), which aligns with socialist principles of worker empowerment.

  • Taxing the Wealthy:

    • Supports increased taxes on corporations and high-income earners to fund public services — a common tenet of democratic socialism.

🗣️ Public Statements

  • Uses economic justice rhetoric frequently — emphasizing equity, worker rights, and access to public goods.

  • Has not called for the abolition of capitalism, nationalization of industries, or end of private enterprise — key elements that distinguish socialism from progressivism.

  • Frames his positions more in terms of “fairness” and “access” than class struggle.

⚖️ Where He Lands on the Spectrum of Left Ideologies

Although he walks and talks like a full blown socialist, he is smart enough to keep that self proclamation to himself and instead floats about with the Elizabeth Warren and Sanders types. There is safety there, especially if you are not very principled but there is also the situation that Gomez is still fighting of a Democratic challenger from the last election,

David Kim.

This is the second primary battle between Gomez and Kim, an openly gay immigration lawyer and this time the well funded Gomez won by only 21,374 in what is construed to be a majority Spanish area. Insiders feel that Kim is not going away and that the next primary may be the charm. Kim, who is stated to have politics to the left of Gomez seems to take umbrage at Jimmy's champagne socialist tropes and therefore has been gaining traction in an otherwise un winnable district.

Obviously, that may be rattling around in the back of Gomez' head when he gets to use the bully pulpit during these hearings. So let's quickly give you the answer that most people have been asking. "How do you get away with making totally false statements about the sitting Secretary of Defense's sobriety and get away with it?"

⚖️ Legal Liability – Defamation Law

To be legally liable for defamation (which includes slander for spoken statements), a statement must meet specific criteria, especially when it targets a public figure.

✅ Key Legal Elements of Defamation:

  1. False Statement – It must be provably false.

  2. Publication – It was said publicly (e.g., on TV).

  3. Injury – It harmed the subject’s reputation.

  4. Actual Malice – For public figures, the speaker must have known it was false or acted with reckless disregard for the truth.

📌 Applying to Gomez’s Hypotheticals:

1. "Was Pete drinking before he leaked security secrets?"

  • Potentially defamatory: It implies illegal conduct (leaking secrets) and intoxication during duty.

  • But: Framed as a question, which provides plausible deniability — courts often view questions, especially hypothetical ones, as opinion or inquiry, not direct accusations.

  • Liability? Unlikely, unless it can be proven that Gomez knew it was false and intended to damage Hegseth’s reputation.

2. "He had a drink at the podium."

  • If false, this could be more straightforwardly defamatory — it suggests unprofessional or possibly unethical behavior during official duties.

  • Liability? Still hard to prove, especially because:

    • The subject is a public figure.

    • The speaker is a member of Congress and may have protections under the Speech or Debate Clause (if said in an official setting, like a hearing).

🛡️ Special Protections for Members of Congress

If Gomez made these comments on the House floor or in a committee hearing, he is protected by the Speech or Debate Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 6), which grants immunity for official legislative acts.➡️ This would fully shield him from liability, even if the statements were inflammatory.

🔥 Political vs. Legal Risk

  • Legal risk: Very low, unless there’s clear evidence of malicious intent and provable falsehood.

  • Political risk: High, depending on context — could backfire if seen as irresponsible or slanderous, especially regarding national security.

(Ed. NOTE) S2 Underground has some novel points about the Signal-gate issue

So keep your eye out for Jimmy Gomez, he is sure to be popping up more and more as the administration moves along. The Signal-gate will take on a life of it's own, mostly in certain media outlets, and Pete Hegseth will have to continue to take a whipping about his "evil drunken rampages" but the country will have to learn to bear it with a smile.

Now that lawsuit Musk is bringing against that other commentator.....
