A LITTLE CUP OF POISON: SANFORD AND SEMINOLE COUNTIES AND 1,4 DIOXANE

Before you rush out to buy that new home in Florida, you had better look where you are going. More important than ever is Florida's tragic history with water purity. From Green Algae and Red Tide run offs from the sugar fields to saltwater creep in south Florida, the State has some problems with drinking water.

Sanford Florida and the surrounding Seminole County have a very pressing issue, that of a chemical (know carcinogen) called 1,4 Dioxane.

It seems that this has been an unspoken issue until recently when Sanford hired an outside professional to test the water.

"They said don't drink it, don't cook with it, don't brush your teeth with it, don't bathe in it and don't touch it" Patricia Fuller

The questions of what to do now? how to remediate it? what is the current health costs? and who is going to pay for it all? have yet to be broached.

Diagrams of the spreading plume do seem to center around the Siemens plant. (Just saying)
